India has announced themselves in the ongoing SAFF U-20 Championship 2022 after thumping Sri Lanka 4-0. The win comes as a huge boost to the young team's confidence after losing to Bangladesh in their competition opener.
The likes of Himanshu Jangra, Gurkirat Singh, and Parthiv Gogoi were instrumental in India's win, all of them contributing in the way of goals and assists. Gogoi scored a brace, both goals being assisted by Jangra and Singh respectively.
India will play their third match on Sunday 31st July against an in-form Nepal, who also happen to be the table toppers currently.

Gogoi gets his second of the game thanks to a great run from Gurkirat Singh from the flank.
A good one-two between Gurkirat and Shubho which almost resulted in India's fourth.
Shubho Paul almost getting himself on the scoresheet with a fizzing shot, which misses the goal.
The three points are all but in India's bag as they try to see out the match.
It has become a matter of 'How many more?' for India as they continue to attack the Sri Lanka box.
Jangra fails to tap the ball in an empty goal and thereby gets a niggle in the process.
And just like that, Gurkirat's calmly taken penalty puts India ahead of Sri Lanka by three goals.
