Kanyashree Cup 2022-23: East Bengal wins 2-0 v/s West Bengal Police- Highlights
Sulanjana Raul and Mousumi Murmu were on target for the Red and Gold Brigade.
East Bengal defeated West Bengal Police 2-0 in the Kanyashree Cup 2022-23 tournament opener on Tuesday at the Rabindra Sarobar stadium, Kolkata. The win was important as the champions of the competition will get a ticket to the Indian Women's League.
In the 25th minute, it was Sulanjana Raul's tap-in which gave East Bengal the lead. Almost 50 minutes later at the 74th minute, substitutes Kabita Saren and Mousumi Murmu combined for the latter to double their lead.
Last year's semi-finalists in West Bengal Police couldn't threaten Rani Bhowmick's goal much as they failed to score even once.
As it happened:
East Bengal begin their Kanyashree Cup 2022-23 campaign with a win!
FT: WBP 0-2 EB
Kabita plays a weighted pass to Mousumi Murmu as the latter takes the strike on the first and doubles the lead.
WBP 0-2 EB
It was Sulanjana's brilliant run and through ball to Shivani Toppo but the latter's strike was made null and void with an offside call.
East Bengal could have had their second of the match but Kabita's strike was straight to the goalie.
After a brilliant double save from WBP goalie Rumpa Malik, EB's Sulanjana Raul slots the rebound in the goal with venom!
WBP 0-1 EB
