The entire Indian football fraternity has been divided into two factions of late. Some say East Bengal will debut in the Indian Super league ISL) this season, others believe that they will continue to ply their trade in the I-League.

The Kolkata-based club though seem to be least worried with all the speculation as they keep on signing new players for the upcoming season. On Thursday night, the club, as they have been doing for a while now, announced the signings of Eugeneson Lyngdoh, OP Milan Singh and Mohammad Rafique. As reported by us, East Bengal have been in talks with all three Indian stars for a while now.

Eugeneson, who previously played for ATK FC in the ISL — where he spent most of the time recovering from a difficult ligament injury— has experienced football in Kolkata. The 33-year-old used to boss around the midfield back in the day for Bengaluru FC. However, the injury setback hampered his progress. After a tough season with ATK, Eugene moved back to BFC last season with hopes of reviving his career but even there, he did not get many opportunities.

Milan Singh had turned out for NorthEast United FC last season after brief stints with Mumbai City FC, Kerala Blasters and Delhi Dynamos. This will be sort of a homecoming for the midfielder who graduated from the East Bengal academy before kick starting his career at Pailan Arrows.

Md Rafique also will be making a comeback to the side. He was contracted to the club since 2014 but multiple loan moves to ISL sides saw the midfielder moving all over the country. He finally joined Mumbai City FC on a permanent deal, where he had been playing since 2018. However, the 28-year-old hardly got a chance to play this season.

The club also announced that they have retained goalkeeper Mirshad Michu for the upcoming season.
