Odisha FC defeat NorthEast United FC in style to kick off their Durand Cup 2022 campaign.

Josep Gombau's Odisha FC ransacked a completely hapless NorthEast United FC in their tournament opener of the Durand Cup 2022. The Kalinga Warriors doled out a thumping 6-0 defeat to the Highlanders.
Despite having a home support, Odisha played with ease and confidence. The first half saw 25-year-old Jerry score a brace with winger Nandhakumar joining the score sheet with a brilliant curling effort.
The remaining three goals were scored in the final ten minutes of the second half, which was also dominated by the visiting team. New signing Diego Mauricio got himself a goal with sumptuous free-kick with youngsters Isak and Thoiba scoring the other two.
There's the final whistle and that's that. The Odisha FC have absolutely demolished Northeast United in their homeground, and walk away with all 3 points from this match.
An evening to forget for Northeast United and they will have to move on from this as quickly as possible.
Odisha just keep scoring. Just when it looked like they would be happy walking away with a 3-0 win, they have scored thrice in 9 minutes. Thoiba this time with a tap in, courtesy a brilliant cross from Issack.

The trio of Pedro, Nandha and Jerry have given the Northeastern defence, who don't seem to have any coordination between them, a nightmare. It has been just 45 minutes, but the way Northeast are playing the result is only a formality.
