Sardar Singh shares workout videos on social media to motivate people for fitness

While almost every other Indian athlete is posting something or the other amid the lockdown imposed due to coronavirus pandemic, Indian men's hockey team legend and former captain Sardar Singh is doing his part by sharing his workout session videos on social media.

Singh, who was initially in Canada, flew back to Chandigarh and eventually shifted to his ancestral village Sant Nagar, Sirsa before the lockdown was imposed. With having enough time in his hands, he is upping his social media presence by sharing these videos.

His motive is to encourage people to focus on their fitness by setting an example. “That’s what I used to do on field also, lead by example. But on social media, when a player puts up something, he keeps thinking of that only all day and focus goes for a toss. That’s why I kept off it earlier. But now I have time. Once this is over, I plan to complete my police training (he is with Haryana Police) and may think of getting into coaching also (he is already a selector with Hockey India). Let’s see,” he told The Hindu.

The Khel Ratna awardee is uncertain about the future but he believes maintaining fitness would be the key to tackle all problems amid this situation.
