India's star fencer Bhavani Devi won her first match and scripted history at the same time. She will now be in action in the Round of 32 Individual Women's Sabre event. The match is expected to start at 7:40 AM IST on the 26th of July.

One might say that Manon with all her experience and high ranks had an upper hand but for Bhavani Devi to come out of nowhere and grab 7 points against a top ranked player is a feat in itself. Bhavani will be disappointed but as is the case with a lot of our athletes at the Olympics this year, she did perform extremely well and should leave with her head held high.
