Indian spinner Sree Charani climbed to World No. 1 in women's T20I bowling rankings, reaching a new career-high rating of 753 on Monday.
The 21-year-old made her T20I debut in June last year and has established herself as a key figure in the Indian bowling attack within a year, taking 38 wickets in 23 matches.
Known for her economy and consistency, Charani has registered multiple four-wicket hauls for India, including one against the Netherlands in the ongoing ICC Women's T20 World Cup.
She currently leads the wicket-taking charts in the tournament, having claimed 10 wickets in just three matches at an impressive economy rate of 5.33.
Her rise to the top of the rankings comes on the back of another strong performance against South Africa, where she returned figures of 3/24 while defending a target of 159.
Although India eventually lost the match, Charani's spell earned her 25 rating points, helping her surpass England spinner Linsey Smith to claim the No. 1 spot in the ICC Women's T20I Bowling Rankings.
