WPL 2027: Full schedule, format and all you need to know

The fifth edition of the Women's Premier League (WPL) will get underway on January 14, 2027, with defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru taking on Mumbai Indians in the opening match in Vadodara.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the schedule for the 23-match tournament on Wednesday, which will see five teams compete for the title across Vadodara and Mumbai, with the final scheduled for February 7 at the Brabourne Stadium. All matches will begin at 7:30 PM IST.

Vadodara will host the first 11 matches from January 14 to 24, before the tournament moves to Mumbai on January 26 for the remaining nine league matches and the two knockout fixtures. The league stage will conclude on February 3, with the eliminator scheduled for February 5 and the final two days later.

 Format of WPL 2027

The format remains unchanged for the fifth season, with all five teams facing each other twice during the league stage. This will account for 20 league matches, followed by an eliminator and the final.

At the end of the league stage on February 3, the team finishing at the top of the points table will qualify directly for the final. The second- and third-placed teams will meet in the eliminator on February 5, with the winner advancing to the title clash on February 7.

Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bengaluru are the most successful teams in the competition, with two titles each. Mumbai Indians won the inaugural edition in 2023 and lifted the trophy again in 2025, while Royal Challengers Bengaluru claimed the title in 2024 and 2026. Delhi Capitals have reached all four finals played so far but have finished as runners-up on each occasion.
