Boxing, Women's 54kg SF: Preeti wins Round 1

Preeti Pawar starting off slow, moving around the ring as Mwape looks to attack. No success for the Zambian but Preeti has already started to land punches.

The Indian, despite being just 22, is far more experienced than her opponents and it is showing in the way she is controlling this.

The first standing count warning against Mwape as Preeti continues to dominate.

This is turning out to be an excellent opening round for the world No 3 Preeti. Hopefully the judges see what I saw too.

They do and it's 5-0 unanimously in favour of the Indian. She has three 10-8 verdicts in her favour! Brilliant start.

Boxing, Women's 54kg SF: Preeti Pawar in action

All the ten Indian boxers, who reached the semi-finals at the 2026 Commonwealth Games will be in action today.

Opening the day for India in the ring is Preeti Pawar in women's 54kg.

She is up against Catherine Mwape of Zambia.

Remember, Preeti is already assured of at least a bronze. So this is the fight to improve the colour of the medal.

Athletics, Men's Decathlon 110m Hurdles: Tejaswin Shankar clocks 14.41s; finishes second

Another good outing for Tejaswin, who clocked 14.41s to finish the men's 110m hurdles in second position to earn 922 points from the event.

With this, he also remained in second position in the overall standings, with 5261 points from six of the ten events.

A tough test awaits Shankar, who has comparatively lower PBs in the coming events like Discus Throw, Javelin Throw and Pole Vault.

First Up: Athletics, Men's Decathlon 110m Hurdles: Tejaswin Shankar in action

After a good first day, having finished in second position despite a knee injury, Tejaswin will return to the track to maintain his consistency and earn a medal.

He will start the day with the men's 110m hurdles at 2:35 PM IST.
