Bajrang Punia reaches semis

Bajrang registers a Victory by Fall to win his QF 6-0. Through to the semis.

India were trailing in their Relay qualifiers before Amoj Jacob played a hero's role in the last lap to take India through to the final.

Sakshi Malik also wins by Technical Superiority to move into the semis. Demolishes her opponent in 70 seconds! Beats Kelsey Barnes of England to enter women's freestyle 62kg semifinal.

Anshu wins by Technical Superiority. A 10-0 win takes her to the semis.

Wrestling update

In an embarrassing incident for the organisers, the wrestling bouts at the Commonwealth Games had to be stopped and spectators were asked to vacate the hall after a speaker fell from the ceiling, minutes after the first session began.

Only five bouts could be completed when a speaker, used to relay announcement, fell near one of the mat chairmen, raising a safety issue at the Ceventary stadium and arena on the opening day of the wrestling competitions.

This was right after India’s Deepak Punia had won his opening 86kg bout.

The TT domination continues. Wrestling to begin soon. According to reports, the wrestling stadium was evacuated because a speaker fell from the ceiling. After a one-hour delay, action is set to continue at 5:15 pm IST.
