While PV Sindhu and HS Prannoy scripted stellar victories (especially HSP who ousted Chou Tien Chen), the same fortunes were not on the cards for Mithun Manjunath (lost to Nhat Nguyen 21-10, 18-21, 21-16), Ashmita Chaliha (lost to Han Yue 21-9, 21-13) and in the women's doubles Pooja Dandu/Arathi Sunil (lost to sixth-seeds Du Hue/Li Wen Mei, 21-12, 21-6) and in Mixed Doubles Nithin HV/Poorvisha S Ram (lost to sixth-seeds Mark Lamsfuss/Isabel Lohau, 21-14, 21-13).
