PV Sindhu, seeded fifth, is no match for American Beiwen Zhang as the latter defeats her Indian counterpart in straight games (21-12, 21-17) in 39 minutes at the Australian Open quarterfinals on Friday.

This is Zhang's fifth win over Sindhu in 11 meetings.

In men's singles, Priyanshu Rajawat, the Orleans Masters winner in April, defeated former world no. 1 Kidambi Srikanth in straight games 21-13, 21-8.

HS Prannoy, the winner of the Malaysia Masters, fought back from a game down to beat top seed Anthony Sinisuka Ginting in a three-setter (16-21, 21-17, 21-14).

In the semifinals, youngster Priyanshu will face off against Prannoy, ensuring India a spot in the men's singles title clash.
