Lakshya Sen defeated Julien Carraggi of Belgium in straight games in his Group L match at the Paris Olympics.
The Indian women's doubles pairing of Tanisha Crasto and Ashwini Ponnappa, however, lost to Matsuyama Nami and Shida Chiharu.

Lakshya Sen beat Julien Carraggi 21-19, 21-14 in his 'first' Group L match.
Lakshya's first straight-game win against Kevin Cordon has been 'deleted' due to the latter's withdrawal owing to a left elbow injury.
Now, both Lakshya and Jonatan Christie have one win each. But unlike Christie, Lakshya beat Carraggi in straight games.
Lakshya wins the second game 21-14 as Carraggi goes wide.
Carraggi saves a match point with a body smash. It is 13-20 now.
Lakshya nets his smash. Carraggi trails 14-20.
A hard-earned point for Carraggi as Lakshya slips and fails to connect the toss. Carraggi trails 11-18.
Lakshya bounces back with a crosscourt smash, leaving Carraggi on his chest.
He follows it up with a half-smash.
Two points for Lakshya as he leads 16-10, now it is 17-10 as he finishes another rally with a big smash.
Now it is 18-10, as Lakshya wins the rally at the net.
Carraggi anticipates Lakshya's position very well and sends a perfect length shot to deduces the margin at 10-14.
Lakshya goes for a lift and Carraggi sees a chance. He finishes the rally with a smash to trail 9-14.
His smash goes into the net. But no problem, Lakshya wins another point at the net to go 14-8 up.
