PV Sindhu cruised to the Round of 16 with a comfortable straight-game win over Canadain Wen Yu Zhang at the Madrid Spain Masters Super 300 on Wednesday. The mixed doubles pairing of B Sumeeth Reddy and N Sikki Reddy also advanced with a come-from-behind win over Chen Zhi Ray and Yang Ching Tun.
However, it was the curtain for the remaining Indian players, with Kidambi Srikanth being stunned by Japanese qualifier Koo Takahashi in straight games. Ashmita Chaliha, Mithun Manjunath and Kiran Goerge also made first-round exits.

Kidambi Srikanth, who made a third-place finish at the Swiss Open Super 300 last week, goes down in the first round, losing his Round of 32 clash against Japanese qualifier Koo Takahashi 18-21, 15-21 in 38 minutes. Takahashi is ranked 61st in the world.
Chia Hao Lee of Chinese Taipei toyed with Kiran George as he prevailed 21-8, 21-10 over the Indian shuttler in the Round of 32 clash.
Mithun Manjunath loses 11-21, 12-21 against Wang Tzu Wei of Chinese Taipei to make a first-round exit from the Madrid Spain Masters.
A brilliant comeback win for the Indian mixed doubles pair B Sumeeth Reddy and N Sikki Reddy as they win 16-21, 22-20, 21-14 against Chen Zhi Ray and Yang Ching Tun.
Rinov Rivaldy and Pitha Mentari defeat Sathish Karunakaran and Aadya Variyath 21-18, 21-14 in Round of 32.
