The Indian mixed doubles pairing of Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Crasto's promising campaign at the Vietnam Open Super 100 came to an abrupt end as the duo gave a walkover to their opponents in the semifinals.

The sixth-seeded Indian duo were scheduled to play the Indonesian pairing of Adnan Maulana and Indah Cahya Sari Jamil in the semifinal on Saturday. However, Dhruv's illness forced the Indians to pull out of the match.

"I have not been well since day one of the tournament. Despite pushing myself, the situation worsened after yesterday's match. The fever wasn't subsiding, and I was experiencing severe back cramps. After consulting with the doctor, we decided it was best to concede the match," Dhruv was quoted as saying by PTI.

Despite his illness from the onset of the tournament, Dhruv combined well with Tanisha and reached the semifinals after they beat compatriots and top-seeded duo Sathish Kumar Karunakaran and Aadya Variyath on Friday.

Dhruv and Tanisha registered a come-from-behind 14-21, 21-10, 21-14 win over Karunakaran and Variyath in the quarterfinal.

With Dhruv and Tanisha's exit, India's campaign at the Vietnam Open came to an end.

On Friday, Tharun Mannepalli lost to Japan’s Shogo Ogawa 13-21, 13-21 in the men's singles quarterfinal clash.

Dhruv and Tanisha will now set their sights on playing two Challenger events - Bendigo International and Sydney International in October.
