Welcome to the live blog of The Bridge from the much-awaited All England Open 2022!
India's quest for an elusive All England crown will begin anew today as Indian badminton stars will get to the grind to end the 21-year-drought since the last All England win by Pullela Gopichand.
At the end of Day 1, HS Prannoy, MR Arjun/Dhruv Kapila, Krishna Prasad/Vishnuvardhan Goud, Meghana/Poorvisha, Sameer Verma, Sai Praneeth, Parupalli Kashyap, Ashwini/Sikki, Aakarshi Kashyap, Sourabh Verma, Ishaan/Tanisha, Venkat Prasad/Juhi Dewangan have lost.
Treesa Jolly/Gayatri Gopichand, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy/Chirag Shetty, Saina Nehwal and PV Sindhu, Lakshya Sen and Kidambi Srikanth are the only ones through to the Round of 16 after emphatic wins!

Lot of upsets in the Indian camp on Day 1 but it leaves us with Gayatri/Treesa, Satwik-Chirag, Saina Nehwal, PV Sindhu, Kidambi Srikanth and Lakshya Sen who parade on to the next round.
For the others, there were some hard losses and some really dismal ones - come back stronger, please!
It's been a hectic day of badminton at the All England Open but it has been bittersweet as well for Indian shuttlers.
So far, these people have won:
1. Gayatri Gopichand/Treesa Jolly
2. Satwiksairaj Rankireddy/Chirag Shetty
3. Saina Nehwal
4. PV Sindhu
5. Kidambi Srikanth
6. Lakshya Sen
Lakshya Sen side-steps Sourabh Verma rather easily and heads into the Round of 16. He will face World Champion Loh Kean Yew slayer Anders Antonsen in the next round.
This will be another tough test!
No trouble at all for Kidambi Srikanth as he overcomes the Thai challenge rather easily! Onto the next round we go!
This is BIG! Loh Kean Yew's party tricks didn't really help today against Antonsen who was determined to win and exact revenge for the World Championship loss.
This means, Anders Antonsen, in great form, will take on the winner of the match between Lakshya Sen and Sourabh Verma next!
