End of morning session
Well, there's a feeling of mixed emotions after the end of the morning session. It was disappointing to see Seema Punia not able to reach the finals.
However, Kamalpreet Kaur has brought in a great amount of hope with her performance, as she advances to the finals.

Kamalpreet Kaur has announced herself in the world of athletics.
Only the second athlete from both the groups to hit the 64m mark and gain automatic qualification for the finals.

Group B has been extremely competitive as more than 8 athletes have thrown over the 62m mark. In Group A, only three athletes managed to cross the 62m mark and none of them hit the 64m mark.

Her attempt of 60.57m isn't enough to take her to the finals.
All Indian hopes are now on Kamalpreet Kaur who has looked really impressive so far and now looks favourite for a medal in the event.

She becomes only the second women to breach the 64m qualification mark and has now officially qualified for the finals with that effort.

What a massive effort by Kamalpreet Kaur. She's missed out on automatic qualification just by 0.03m.
The attempt puts her second not only in Group B but in the overall standings.
She has pretty much sealed her qualification in the final unless something very dramatic happens.

We're seeing much better and more valid attempts. There have been only two invalid attempts overall in this group so far.
