Helander launches a monster!
Local lad Oliver Helander has come out with a monster throw. A massive 89.83m and that's now the third best throw in the world this year. Beautiful throw!
Neeraj LEADS!
Neeraj Chopra is leading the competition after first round of throws. Anders Peters follows with 84.65m. Julian Weber 84.02m.
WHAT A START FOR NEERAJ!
The Olympic Champion shows no nerves and the javelin lands at a distance of 86.92m. WHAT A RETURN THIS FOR NEERAJ!
Neeraj's thoughts on the event
“I have a target of 90 metres but not in the first competition; sometime this year. My coach (Klaus Bartonietz) is thinking that when the season opens, I should start with a throw of about 86-87-88," Neeraj had said.
Can Chopra go past 90m?
Well, it will be difficult to expect Neeraj Chopra to go past 90m in what is his first competition of the year. In fact, he himself had stated he is not eyeing that mark right in the first event of the year.
Anything above 85m should be good enough for Neeraj to hit the ground running.
Javelin Throw Start List
Some big names there including the likes of Peters, Walcott, Hoffman and others. Going to be a tough evening for Neeraj.
Gooood Eveninggg!
The golden boy Neeraj Chopra returns to action tonight at the Paavo Nurmi Games. Will the Olympic Champion, after all these time away from the javelin, medal in what is a very strong field in Finland?
Stay tuned!
