One of the most exciting events of the Paris Olympics, the men's javelin throw event, has started with the qualification round on Tuesday.

India's biggest gold medal hope, Neeraj Chopra hit the ground at the qualification round of the group B of qualification stage at 3:20 PM IST. 

Alongside Neeraj, his compatriot and Asian Games medalist Kishore Jena was also in the hunt for a spot in finals on his maiden Olympics outing.

On the other hand, Kiran Pahal competed at the repechage round of women's 400m.

Neeraj Chopra ends the qualification round on the top of the ladder with a massive throw of 89.34m whereas Kishore Jena finishes in 18th position with 80.73m throw.

Kiran Pahal could not get close to her personal best again and missed out on qualification for semifinals.

She clocked a timing of 52.59s to finish sixth in her repechage heat.
