He will now need to clock a time around 4:37.00s or better in the men's 1500m event to breach the 8000 points mark.

The national record holder, Tejaswin Shankar, will be in action in the 9th event of the Decathlon Programme.

He has been on an impressive run so far in Ranchi, collecting the career best first day points of 4511 Points combined with a decent performance on second day's morning session.

He has 6751 points right now after 8 events and is on par to breach the Commonwealth Games mark of 7787 points and might even cross the elite 8000-points mark.
