Asian Para Games: Pramod/Manisha and Bhavina Patel win bronze medals

India opened their medal tally in Para-Badminton and Table Tennis at the Para Asian Games 2023 with bronze medals.

Paralympic silver medalist Bhavina Hasmukhbhai Patel won the bronze medal in women's singles Class 4 in Table Tennis, while Pramod Bhagat/Manisha Ramdass clinched bronze in Para-Badminton on Wednesday.

This is Bhavina's first singles medal at the Asian Para Games. At the 2018 edition, she won a doubles medal. 

Bhavina topped Group B with two wins to qualify for the quarterfinals. She won her quarter-final match against Indonesia's Tarsilem with 3-0.

In the semis, she lost 1-3 to Chinese player Gu Xiaoden to confirm her bronze medal at the event.

Sandeep Dangi doubled the table tennis medal tally for India with his bronze medal in men's singles Class 1. He finished third in the round-robin stage with two wins to confirm the bronze medal.

Medals Galore in Para-Badminton

Pramod Bhagat and Manisha Ramdass opened the Para-Badminton medal tally for India with the bronze medal in the mixed doubles SL3-SU5 category. They lost to an Indonesian pair in the semifinal. 

Another pair Nitesh Kumar and Thulasimathi Murugesan also won the bronze medal in the same category as they also lost their semifinal match.

Pair of Sivarajan Solaimalai and Nithya Sre also won the Bronze medal after their Semifinals defeat to a Chinese pair in Mixed Doubles SH6 Category.

In women's singles, Manasi Joshi won the bronze medal in the SL3 category after her semifinals defeat to Ikhtiar Syakuroh of Indonesia. Another Indian Mandeep Kaur also won the bronze medal in the same category.

Vaishnavi Puneyani also won the bronze medal in the women's singles SL4 category with a semifinal exit.
