India built on its first medal tally of the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games on Wednesday, adding five more medals from the day with Mirabai Chanu winning the weightlifting silver.
The country has now collected twelve medals, including one gold, five silver and six bronze, but has slipped down to 13th in the medal tally.
Mirabai Chanu won silver in the women’s 49kg category with a 198kg total, securing her maiden Asian Games medal. The Olympic silver medallist won an Asian Games weightlifting medal for India since Karnam Malleswari’s silver in 1998.
Manu Bhaker finished fifth in the women’s 10m air pistol final as India finished the women's air pistol event without any medal.
However, India won bronze in both the men’s and women’s skeet team events, and Jay Meena secured India’s first-ever Asian Games medal in soft tennis with a men’s singles bronze.
India lost 1-3 to China in the men’s team semifinal and settled for bronze. Indian Kabaddi teams continued their winning streak and advanced to the semis to confirm medals.

Weightlifting:
Mirabai Chanu won silver in the women’s 49kg category with a 198kg total, securing her maiden Asian Games medal.
Gyaneshwari Yadav had a poor outing on her debut, finishing in 8th place with a 195kg total in the women’s 53kg final.
Hockey:
India’s women produced a stunning 20-1 win over Thailand, with Deepika Sehrawat scoring nine goals, a new world record for goals by a woman in a single international match.
Navneet Kaur also scored four goals as India dominated from start to finish.
Badminton:
India lost 1-3 to China in the men’s team semifinal and settled for bronze.
Lakshya Sen and Ayush Shetty lost their singles matches, while Satwik-Chirag won their doubles tie before Arjun Kapila and Hariharan Amsakarunan lost the deciding match.
Kabaddi:
India’s men stormed into the semifinals with a 48-25 win over Bangladesh, making it three straight group-stage victories.
The women also continued their unbeaten run with a 37-23 win over Iran.
Shooting:
India won bronze in both the men’s and women’s skeet team events.
Anantjeet Singh Naruka finished fourth in the men’s individual final, while Raiza Dhillon was fourth in the women’s final.

Wushu:
Roshibina Devi reached her second consecutive Asian Games final after beating Indonesia’s Thania Kusumaningtyas 2-0 in the women’s 60kg sanda semifinal.
She will face China’s Xiaoyu Zhang for gold.
Soft Tennis:
Jay Meena secured India’s first-ever Asian Games medal in soft tennis after reaching the men’s singles semifinals.
He lost 2-4 to Japan’s Takuya Kurosaka and took bronze.
Rowing:
Balraj Panwar advanced to the men’s singles sculls medal final after finishing third in his heat. Women's four and men's lightweight double sculls also reached the final
India also progressed in the men’s doubles and quadruple sculls, while the men’s four and men’s pair missed out.
Squash:
Tanvi Khanna opened her women’s singles campaign with a straight-games victory over South Korea’s Kim Dami.
Abhay Singh also began his men’s singles campaign with a 3-0 win over Thailand’s Arkaradet Arkarnhirunya.
Sepak Takraw:
India beat the Philippines 2-1 in their final group match but missed out on the semifinals on set difference.
Japan advanced instead despite both teams finishing with one group-stage win.
Table Tennis:
India’s mixed doubles pairs of Manush Shah-Diya Chitale and Harmeet Desai-Yashaswini Ghorpade advanced to the quarterfinals.
Both pairs secured victories in the Round of 16.
Boxing:
Ankush Panghal began his men’s 80kg campaign with a convincing 5-0 unanimous-decision win over Bahrain’s Vogel Hamsa.
It was India’s fourth boxing victory in the Round of 32.
Lakshya Sen started the semi-final tie against China but lost the opening match to Shi Yuqi 16-21, 18-21. India levelled the tie through Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, who produced a brilliant 21-11, 22-20 win over China’s Liang Weikeng and Wang Chang. India then looked to Ayush Shetty with hopes to bounce back and take lead but Ayush was not able to deliver and lost to Li Shifeng in the second men’s singles match 19-21,13-21. Arjun Kapila and Hariharan Amsakarunan then lost 21-16, 17-21, 21-9, ending India’s hopes of reaching the final, Winning bronze at the Asian Games.
The duo might be struggling to get points in the match, but the audience is in full support, cheering “India! India!” from the stands.
The Indian duo, who were initially trailing in the game, found their momentum and fought till the end to win the second game by 21-17!! and take the match into the decider.

Badminton, Men’s Team Semifinals: Arjun/Hariharan Lose the first game 16-21.
After a fightback from the Indian Duo, they managed only to get to 16 before the Chinese took the game.
Hariharan and Arjun will now have to Stage a comeback to keep the tie alive
Roshibina Devi clinches a 2-0 win in the semi-final against Thania Kusumaningtyas of Indonesia to reach her second consecutive Asian Games Wushu Final.
She dominated the semi-finals, winning both rounds with a 5-0 deficit to become first Indian wushu player to reach two Asian Games finals
She will now fight for her first gold medal against China's Xiaoyu Zhang tomorrow. Roshibina had won two Asian Games medals already: Bronze in 2018, Silver in 2022.
Badminton, Men’s Team Semifinals: Arjun/Hariharan Trail 9-11
The Indian Duo has done well to get the scores close, as the chinese pair are looking much stronger with their attacks and net play, Hariharan has managed to take some points with his quick smashes while Arjun has been a wall on the net.
