Asian Games 2026: Abhay, Anahat, athletics squad eyes gold on September 27 - Schedule

India enjoyed another strong day at the Asian Games on September 26, completing a golden double in kabaddi as both the men’s and women’s teams defended their titles. The women beat Iran 37-34 before the men defeated the same opponents 40-34 in the final.

India also collected silver medals in shooting and athletics, with Tilottama Sen, Vidarsa Vinod and Ashi Chouksey finishing second in the women’s 50m rifle 3P team event, while Sawan Barwal and Tajinderpal Singh Toor added silver medals in the marathon and shot put respectively. Prachi Chaudhary won bronze in the women’s 400m.

Squash produced two major final berths, with Anahat Singh and Abhay Singh reaching the women’s and men’s singles finals. Joshna Chinappa and Velavan Senthilkumar also secured bronze in mixed doubles.

PV Sindhu advanced to the badminton women’s singles quarterfinals after beating Japan’s World No. 7 Tomoka Miyazaki 21-9, 21-13. Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand also reached the quarterfinals, while Lakshya Sen and Ayush Shetty exited.
