U23 World Wrestling C'ships: Priya Malik, Sujeet to lead the Indian challenge

The young Indian wrestlers will return for the exciting U23 World Championships in Tirana, Albania, for the second successive year, scheduled from October 21 to 27.

India is sending a 30-member contingent for the event, competing in Indian colors after missing out last year, when they played under a neutral flag due to the UWW ban.

The Indian team includes several experienced players like Priya Malik, Sujeet, and Nitika, who have also competed in Indian senior team tournaments in the past.

Last time, India won nine medals at the championships, including a historic gold medal in the women's 76 kg category by Reetika Hooda. Priya will be aiming to keep this 76 kg title in India by winning in her debut U23 Championships.

India has won only two gold medals in the history of the championships, with Paris Olympic medalist Aman Sehrawat being the first to do so by winning at the 2022 edition.

Sujeet (men's freestyle 70 kg) has been in great form since last year and will be aiming to become just the second Indian male wrestler to win a gold medal at the U23 Worlds.
