Ronak Dahiya wins bronze medal at U17 Wrestling World Championships
Ronak Dahiya clinched a bronze medal in the 110kg Greco Roman category at the U17 Wrestling World Championships.
Ronak Dahiya won India's first medal at the ongoing U-17 World Wrestling Championships after clinching the bronze medal in the greco roman 110kg category on Tuesday in Amman, Jordan.
Currently ranked number two in the world, Ronak defeated Turkiye’s Emurullah Capkan 6-1 in the bronze medal match.
This is the second medal for Ronak at the World Championships after he won the silver medal in the 2023 edition of the tournament.
Earlier yesterday, Ronak started his tournament with a brilliant 8-1 win over Artur Manvelian. Then, he defeated Daniil Maslakou 10-1 in the quarter-final.
He lost 0-2 to the eventual silver medalist Zoltan Czako of Hungary in the semi-final.
Ronak trains at the famous Chhatrasal Stadium in Delhi. Paris Olympic medalist Aman Sehrawat also trains at the same stadium which has produced the likes of Ravi Dahiya, Bajrang Punia, Yogeshwar Dutt, and Sushil Kumar.
Pardhi is in the hunt for bronze through the repechage round in the 51 kg where he will face Munaretto Dominic Michael of the United States.
Pardhi had lost to Tushan Dashdhimirov of Azerbaijan 1-5 in the opening round and the latter reached the final, giving the Indian a chance to get a shot at the bronze.
