WPL clarifies run out rules after Mumbai Indians-Delhi Capitals controversy
A controversy had erupted after three close run out decisions went in favour of Delhi Capitals during their match against Mumbai Indians.

The Women's Premier League has clarified run out rules for the competition after multiple controversial decisions were made by third umpire Gayatri Venugopalan during the Delhi Capitals clash against Mumbai Indians on Saturday.
As per a report in ESPN Cricinfo, the umpires were notified that the LED bails need to be fully dislodged to judge that a wicket is broken in regards to run outs and stumping decisions on the morning of the match between Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians.
The teams, however, were informed of this decision the day after the match, leading to confusion.
This means that third umpire Gayatri was indeed correct in all the decisions she took in the said match.
As per the existing rules of the tournament, the wickets are deemed to be broken the moment the LED lights of the bails illuminate.
"Where LED wickets are used (as provided in paragraph 3.8.1.5) the moment at which the wicket has been put down (as per clause 29.1) shall be deemed the first frame in which the LED lights are illuminated and subsequent frames show the bail permanently removed from the stumps," the rule read.
However, this will not be applicable going forward. Instead, the time when bails are completely dislodged will be taken into consideration while arriving at any decision.
This change in rule is because the bails being used in the 2025 Women's Premier League have been lighting up even with the slightest of disturbance and not only when both spigots have come off completely.
