The UP Warriorz captain Alyssa Healy has pulled out of the upcoming 2025 Women's Premier League, the franchise announced on Saturday.

"Captain Alyssa Healy has opted out of the upcoming WPL due to a foot injury," the UP Warriorz said in a statement.

"While she won’t be donning the Yellow and Purple this season, she’ll always be a Warrior," they added.

Healy has been struggling with a foot injury over the last year. It flared up during the 2024 ICC Women's T20 World Cup in the UAE and during India's tour of Australia later.

The news of Healy opting out of the 2025 WPL first came to light when he indicated it post Australia's recent 16-0 Ashes win over England.

"Unfortunately for me, I’ve got a couple of months feet up,” Healy had said after the series win. "I’m pretty bummed by that, but at the same time elated to have a little bit of downtime and try and get my body right. But I’m looking forward to sticking my feet in an ice bucket."

Indian all-rounder Deepti Sharma is expected to take over the reins as captain for the UP Warriorz in Healy's absence.
