India registered a dominant 9-wicket win over Pakistan in their opening match of the ACC Women’s U-19 Asia Cup at Bayuemas Cricket Oval, Kuala Lumpur on Sunday.

Sonam Yadav dazzled with the ball. The left-arm spinner was the player of the match as she scalped four wickets for just six runs, helping India to restrict Pakistan to 67/7 in 20 overs.

Opting to bat first, Pakistan struggled against India’s bowling attack.

Sonam’s economical spell, along with solid contributions from Joshita VJ and Parunika Sisodia, kept Pakistan under pressure throughout their innings. Sonam’s brilliant bowling figure of 4 for 6 included the crucial wickets of Pakistan’s top order, including the dismissal of captain Zoofishan Ayyaz.

Pakistan’s batting lineup never truly found its rhythm, only a few boundaries from Fatima Khan and Komal Khan provided some resistance. However, Pakistan couldn’t form any partnerships as wickets kept falling regularly.

Chasing 68 runs, India started poorly as they lost opener Trisha G early, but G Kamilini’s unbeaten 44 off 29 balls sealed the win for India in just 7.5 overs. Kamilini composed her innings with four boundaries and three sixes, which ensured India moved forward to the next stage.

Match Highlights:

Pakistan posted a total of 67 for 7 in 20 overs, with Sonam Yadav scalping 4 wickets for 6.

India chased down the target in just 7.5 overs, finishing at 68 for 1.

G Kamilini’s unbeaten 44 off 29 balls led India to a comfortable victory.
