As 2024 has come to an end, Indian women's team off-spinner Deepti Sharma achieved a career landmark as she climbed a spot to enter into the leg of the top 5 in the latest ICC Women's ODI Rankings for bowlers.

Deepti achieved the feat after her match-winning performances during India's series-winning showing against West Indies in Vadodara.

The 27-year-old is currently ranked fifth with 665 rating points and is marginally behind fourth-placed South Africa's Marizanne Kapp (677 rating points). The women's ODI bowling ranking is topped by England's Sophie Ecclestone.

Deepti took eight wickets in two matches against West Indies, including 6 for 31 in the last game as India completed a whitewash of the visitors in the three-match series.

In the batting rankings, Jemimah Rodrigues, with rating points of 537, rose four spots and is currently ranked 22nd after he scored 29 and 52 respectively.

Richa Ghosh, on the other hand, climbed seven spots to be ranked 41st with a rating points of 448.

However, Smriti Mandhana, the talismanic Indian opener, slipped to the third spot with 720 rating points and trails South Africa's Laura Wolvaardt (773) and Chamari Athapaththu (733). Mandhana went down despite playing 91 and 53 runs knocks against West Indies.

Captain Harmanpreet Kaur dropped three places to be ranked 13th.
