Asian Weightlifting C'ships: Sanjana wins women's 77kg bronze

India's Sanjana bagged three bronze medals in women's 77kg at the 2026 Asian Weightlifting Championships in Gandhinagar, Gujarat on Saturday.
Sanjana lifted a total of 220kg to finish on the podium.
Her best snatch lift of 96kg and best clean and jerk attempt of 124kg also earned her a bronze medal apiece in the competition.
Sanjana started her outing in the tournament with a successful 93kg snatch. She then failed to lift 96kg in her second attempt before lifting it successfully in her third try.
In the clean and jerk discipline, Sanjana started with a successful 117kg lift. She then faltered at 122kg but still went ahead and attempted a 124kg lift. It proved to be decisive as she bagged three bronze medals.
Elsewhere, India's Vanshita Verma finished fourth in women's 86kg.
Verma also lifted a total of 220kg (95kg in snatch, 125kg in clean and jerk) in the competition. She finished fourth in all three.
