UP Dangal got the better of Delhi Sultans when the won by a 4-3 margin in the Pro Wrestling League match on Monday evening. Indian star Vinesh Phogat and Abdurakhmonob Bekzod won their respective bouts to script a victory for the UP-based team and put them in a commendable position to qualify for the knockout stages. UP Dangal was down by 2-3 in the game when the above mentioned two came to the rescue of the team. This was the third loss incurred by the Delhi Sultans which means they are virtually out of contention for a semi-final berth. UP had won the toss before the start of the match and they decided to bench World Champion Haji Aliev while Delhi opted not to field Geeta Phogat. Delhi managed to draw the first blood in the match as Sandeep Tomar defeated Nitin Rathi in a hard-fought encounter. Sandeep was leading by 5-0 in the opening period, but Nitin came back strongly to tie the score at 8-8. The deadlock was broken as the referees awarded the match in favour of Sandeep. UP Dangal beat Delhi Sultans 4-3 in a close Pro Wrestling League match on Monday.
Hungarian Zsanett Nemeth equalised UP Dangal as she edged past Samar Hamza of Egypt3-2 in the 76 kg category. The Egyptian was leading 2-1 but the European Championship Silver medallist Nemeth's experience came handy as she turned the tables in the final stages of the match. Alborov Aslan, the World Championship Bronze medallist had a walk in the cake as he outclassed National Championship silver medallist Vicky 7-1 to put Delhi ahead in the match 2-1. Sangeeta Phogat scripted a historic win by defeating World Champion Vanesa Kaladzinskaya 7-4 in the 57 kg category to extend Delhi's lead to 3-1. Azerbaijan's Jamalladin hammered Hitender Singh by a margin of 6-2 to keep the hopes of UP alive. Following that, UP Dangal won the final two bouts to register a vital win. Vinesh Phogat won her tie without dropping a single point against Maroi Meze in the 50kg category to equal the scores at 3-3. In the final bout of the day, Abdurakhmonob Bekzod edged past Vinod Omprakash 9-0 to ensure a win for UP Dangal.
