The main draw of the US OPEN 2019 kickstarts today as the fans wait with baited breaths to watch the action go down. Two Indians will be in action in R1 of the main draw - Prajnesh Gunneswaran and Sumit Nagal.
Prajnesh Gunneswaran, ranked 89 in the world will take on ATP Cincinnati Masters winner Russia's Daniil Medvedev while Sumit Nagal is all set to make his first-ever Grand slam appearance and that too opposite tennis maestro Roger Federer.
Looking in sublime form, Sumit Nagal put up an emphatic performance in the qualifiers to advance to the main draw and enter the record books in the process.
Nagal became the youngest Indian to feature in a Grand Slam main draw in 25 years. He is also only the fifth Indian to feature in a Grand Slam Singles draw in this decade when he takes the court against Roger Federer.
