India's upcoming tennis sensation Sumit Nagal, of late, have been making headlines for his sublime form. Now, after making a dream grand slam debut opposite tennis maestro Roger Federer, the 22-year-old has looked in exemplary touch making it to two finals in a span of a fortnight.

Sumit , who jumped a splendid 25 places to climb to 159 in the latest ATP rankings, cruised to the finals of the ongoing $54,160 ATP Challenger in Buenos Aires. The seventh-seed recorded a 6-0, 6-1 drubbing of fourth seed Thiago Monteiro from Brazil in the semi-final of the clay court tournament.

Nagal defeated Pedro Sakamoto, Jose Hernandez-Fernandez and Francisco Cerundolo respectively in his first three matches and will face eight seed Facundo Bagnis from Argentina in the finals later today.

2015 Wimbledon boys' doubles title winner, Nagal also participated in the men's doubles competition in Buenos Aires but couldn't make it past the quarter-finals. Partnered with Argentina's Federico Coria, the duo lost 2-6, 3-6 to the local pair of Guido Andreozzi and Andres Molteni on Saturday.

Previously, Sumit Nagal scripted history by qualifying for the main draw of the US Open, becoming the youngest Indian in 25 years to achieve the feat. And he commemorated it in style clinching the first set against Roger Federer. Sumit Nagal is currently the second highest-ranked singles tennis player among Indian men, behind Prajnesh Gunneswaran at 81st spot.

Ranked 161 in the world on the ATP singles tour, Nagal is in the middle of a strong finish to the 2019 season. Nagal's best result of the current season was getting to the final in the Banja Luka Challenger and he will be seeking to do an encore tonight as well. The Indian currently has a 40-19 win-loss record in 2019, 34-14 on clay.
