World Tennis League 2024: Sumit Nagal set to play in Team Hawks
The annual team tennis tournament is back for its third edition and will be played in Abu Dhabi between December 19 and 22.
Indian tennis player Sumit Nagal has joined hands with Team Hawks for the upcoming World Tennis League scheduled to happen in Abu Dhabi between December 19 and 22.
Along with Nagal, Team Hawks will consist of world no.1 women's singles player Aryna Sabalenka, Paris Olympics doubles silver medalist Mirra Andreeva and Taylor Fritz, the finalist of the 2024 US Open.
About the World Tennis League
The World Tennis League is a non ATP/WTA affiliated tennis tournament held in the UAE every year. It started in 2022 and it is returning for its third edition this December.
It comprises of four teams with four players each in a mixed-gender competition, wherein each team plays the other in a round-robin format and the top two at the end of the league round play the final.
Each match consists of four games, names a men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles and women's doubles or mixed doubles.
Team Hawks won the inaugural edition in 2022 and Team Eagles won the second edition, and in both ocassions, Team Kites finished as runners up.
Notably, Indian woman tennis ace Sania Mirza was part of Team Kites in the inaugural edition.
Sumit Nagal was part of Team Falcons in the 2023 edition and this year he will be part of Team Hawks.
