US Open 2020: Rohan Bopanna & partner Denis Shapovalov move to Round of 16

The Indo-Canadian pair of Rohan Bopanna and Denis Shapovalov have made it to the men’s doubles second round at the US Open 2020 with a 6-2 6-4 win over Ernesto Escobedo and Noah Rubin on Friday.

Bopanna and Shapovalov beat the American pair of Escobedo and Rubin in straight sets.The duo now heads on to the Round of 16, where they will face Germany’s Andreas Mies and Kevin Krawietz, which is scheduled at 11.05 PM (IST) on Saturday.

After spending five months with his family, especially with his one-year-old daughter Tridha, it was hard for Rohan Bopanna to get back to the travel of the professional circuit.Yet, the 40-year-old Bopanna is happy to resume his job on the Tour and partner Shapovalov of Canada for the US Open and the Roland Garros.

The duo earlier lost 4-6, 6(1)-7(7) against Horacio Zeballos and Marcel Granollers in the first round of the Cincinnati Masters after they returned in action.
