World No 127 tennis player Sumit Nagal from India has received a direct entry for the 2020 US Open. He was the last man to receive direct entry into the field of 128. The ATP rankings as of Aug. 3 were used to determine the US Open main-draw entry list. Seeds will be determined and announced closer to the start of the event.

In 2019, Nagal earned a dream Grand Slam debut for himself after defeating Brazil's Joao Menezes in the final qualifying round. The Indian set up the US Open first-round clash against the legendary Roger Federer, against whom he won the first set but lost the tie 4-6, 6-1, 6-2, 6-4.

World No 1 Novak Djokovic will be the only member of the Big Three taking part in the 2020 US Open as Rafael Nadal has decided not to enter while another former winner in Stan Wawrinka is also absent from the entry list.

With Roger Federer already out following knee surgery, the United States Tennis Association had high hopes that the remaining two members of the Big Three would feature at Flushing Meadows.

However, defending champion Nadal confirmed on Tuesday that he won’t travel to New York for the hard-court Grand Slam due to the coronavirus pandemic.

It leaves Djokovic as the clear favourite as he looks to add a fourth US Open trophy to his collection and take his Grand Slam tally to 18.

The other big names missing from the men’s field are 2016 winner and world No 17 Wawrinka, world No 9 Gael Monfils, who is injured, world No 11 Fabio Fognini and world No 40 Nick Kyrgios, who confirmed over the weekend that he would not take part.

Including Djokovic, seven players in the world top 10 will feature with world No 3 Dominic Thiem, Daniil Medvedev (No 5), Stefanos Tsitsipas (No 6), Alexander Zverev (No 7), Matteo Berrettini (No 8) and David Goffin (No 10) set to take part.

World No 28 Dan Evans will fly the British flag along with Kyle Edmund and Cameron Norrie with Andy Murray expected to receive a wildcard entry.
