Yuki Bhambri
The impressive run of the Indo-Croatian duo, Yuki Bhambri and Ivan Dodig, came to an end in the semi-finals of the Qatar Open ATP 500 tournament in Doha on Friday.
Yuki and Dodig missed a golden opportunity to reach the final of a major event, falling in straight sets (6-7(3), 3-6) to the British pair of Julian Cash and Luke Glasspool.
Struggling with unforced errors, including four double faults, they also squandered five break point opportunities, ultimately leading to their exit from the tournament.
A missed chance
The match started on even footing, with both pairs holding their serves comfortably. In the 11th game, the British duo earned a couple of break point opportunities but failed to convert, pushing the set into a tiebreaker. This time, Cash and Glasspool made no mistakes, sealing the set 7-3.
The second set saw the British pair gain an early advantage, securing a crucial break in the second game. Despite late pressure from Yuki and Dodig, who forced three break points in the final two games, they were unable to capitalize, conceding the set 3-6.
With this loss, Bhambri and Dodig’s campaign in Doha ends, but their strong performances signal promise for future tournaments.
