India's Rohan Bopanna and Australian Matthew Ebden reached the men's doubles quarterfinals at the Paris Masters in Bercy, France on Tuesday.
Bopanna and Ebden defeated Alexander Zverev and Marcelo Melo in straight sets to progress to the last eight.
The third-seeded Indo-Australian pair won their pre-quarterfinal match 6-4, 7-6(5) against the German-Brazilian duo of Zverev and Melo.
Bopanna and Ebden's win against Zverev and Melo came on the heels of their qualification to the season-ending ATP Finals, marking the Indian’s fourth appearance in the tournament.
The ATP Finals will take place in Turin, Italy on November 10-17, with Bopanna and Ebden, the semifinalists of the previous year's ATP Finals, qualifying for the prestigious Finals for the second consecutive time.
Last year, they lost to Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos in the semifinals.
Bopanna and Ebden had begun the year by winning the Australian Open men's doubles title. By winning the grand slam tournament, Bopanna became the oldest man at 43 and 331 days to become the World No. 1.
The Indo-Australian pair also won the Miami Open this year. They also reached the final of the Adelaide International and the semifinals at the French Open.
