Parikshit Somani suffers ankle injury in comeback after seven-month layoff

Indian tennis player Parikshit Somani twisted his ankle on Friday in his first tournament after a seven-month injury layoff.
Parikshit suffered the injury at the ITF Egypt F16 in Sharm El Sheikh while playing a men's doubles semifinal match against the Netherlands' Brian Bozemoj and Filiberto Fumagalli of Italy.
The Indian player, pairing up with Maximus Jones of Thailand, lost the match 7-6, 3-6, 7-10.
Earlier, the Indo-Thai pair defeated Marek Gengel and Daniel Blazka in the quarterfinal.
This was Parikshit's comeback event since he suffered a wrist injury in March this year. The injury, he said, was a result of a 'domino effect' from an old shoulder issue and Ankylosing Spondylitis.
In August, giving an update about his injury, he said, "Wrist down, but spirit up! 5 long months of dealing with this pesky injury, only to realize it’s a domino effect of my old shoulder and Ankylosing Spondylitis. Huge thanks to Heath Matthews for figuring out the root of the problem and getting my wrist pain-free!”
Parikshit was helped by legendary Sania Mirza to recover from the injury. "Could not have done this without your guidance Sania Mirza, thank you for pointing me in the right direction," he had said back then.
However, his latest injury derailed his comeback.
