India’s Sriram Balaji and his Mexican partner, Miguel Angel Reyes-Varela, failed to advance to the 2025 Mexican Open final on Saturday.
The Indo-Mexican pair lost to the fourth-seeded French duo of Sadio Doumbia and Fabien Reboul 6(4)-7, 3-6 in a contest that lasted an hour and a half.
Balaji, playing his maiden ATP 500 doubles semi-final, and his Mexican partner had an early opportunity with three break points in just the fourth game but failed to capitalise in their favor.
Both teams played strong thereafter and held serve at 6-6 as the first set entered a tie-break. Doumbia and Reboul took a close-fought first set, winning the tie-break 7-4.
In contrast, the second set was very different. The Indo-Mexican pair lost serve in the fourth game to fall 1-3 behind.
They had their opportunity to hit back in the seventh game with two break points, but Doumbia and Reboul were quick to recover.
Doumbia and Reboul will now face the American pairing of Christian Harrison and Evan King in the title clash.
Earlier, Balaji and his Mexican partner knocked out reigning Wimbledon champion Jan Zielinski of Poland and his partner Sander Gille in the opening round en-route their semifinal.
