The 17-year-old Maaya Rajeshwaran clinched her career first professional singles title on Sunday, winning the ITF W35 in Lagos, Portugal.

Maaya, one of India's brightest prospects in tennis, took down the seventh seeded Celia Cervino Ruiz of Spain 6-4, 6-2 in straight sets in the women's singles final.

The Indian, ranked 1038 in the WTA rankings, had earlier received a bye in the semi-finals against the third seeded Britt Du Pree of Netherlands after she had beaten China's eighth seeded Jialin Tian 6-2, 6-1 in the quarter-finals.

The singles title win capped off a memorable weekend for Maaya, who had won the doubles title in Lagos alongside Yelyzaveta Kotliar of Ukraine earlier in the week.

It also made her the youngest Indian woman to win an ITF singles title, surpassing the legendary Sania Mirza.
