Welcome to the live blog of The Bridge for the Mixed Doubles quarter-finals from the Australian Open 2022!
It's been a week of mixed emotions for Indian tennis fans ever since Sania Mirza announced her retirement from tennis, mentioning 2022 to be the last season she plays. In her final outing at the season's first Grand Slam - the Australian Open, Sania Mirza is giving it her absolute all along with partner, Rajeev Ram, in the Mixed Doubles.
Winning their first two matches in style, Mirza/Ram are into the quarters and very keen on keeping this winning streak going. They will take on the all-Australian pair of Jason Kubler and Jaimee Fourlis for a place in the semi-finals of the Australian Open.

It's not going too well for Ram and Mirza now as the Aussies are snatching the momentum.
Kubler powers down forehands and leaves Mirza a little flustered. The Aussies are up a break once more to lead 4-3 in the first set.

It is Sania Mirza who finally gets the Indo-American pair on board!
Quite a tight start to this match, a little unexpected this was. The Aussies put pressure constantly and the Kubler forehand is a weapon to be wary of in this match. Mirza holds serve quite comfortably though as they lag behind at 1-2 in the opening set!

And we begin! Sania Mirza and Rajeev Ram get the action underway in this quarter-final against Kubler/Fourlis!
We are in Set 1, Game 1. Rajeev Ram banking on his service game to get them across although Fourlis whips a classy forehand. The Aussie pair put pressure on Ram and Mirza and suddenly they get break point. The Indo-American pair's return find the net and they lose their opening game. Tch, tch, they had better not let the momentum get away.

Sania Mirza and Rajeev Ram come in with more experience and given how Mirza/Ram are playing currently it shouldn't be a difficult match for them to crack!
