Indian tennis stalwart Rohan Bopanna, aged 43, etched his name in the annals of tennis history on Saturday at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne as he clinched the Australian Open men's doubles title.
Paired with Australian partner Matthew Ebden, the duo defeated the Italian pair of Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori in straight sets {7-6, 7-5].
This is the first slam title for Rohan Bopanna in men's doubles category. It is also a long-awaited Grand Slam title for India, coming after 7 years, the last one was in Mixed doubles category by Rohan Bopanna himself in 2017 French Open.

Rohan Bopanna yet to win a grand slam title in men's doubles category
Rohan Bopanna is playing in his third Grand Slam final in men's singles category and yet to win a title whereas Matthew Ebden is a former Wimbledon Champion.
He won that title in 2022 partnering home-mate Max Purcell.
