Arnav Paparkar's impressive campaign at the 2026 Wimbledon boys' singles came to an end in the quarterfinals after the Indian youngster lost 2-6, 5-7 to American Jordan Lee on Thursday.
Despite the defeat, Paparkar scripted history by becoming the first Indian in 36 years to reach the boys' singles quarterfinals at Wimbledon, marking one of the country's best performances in the junior event at the All England Club.
The Pune-born player struggled in the opening set before mounting a strong response in the second. Paparkar raced to a 3-1 lead, but Lee fought back to level the score at 3-3 before taking control of the set and sealing victory in one hour and 14 minutes.
Paparkar booked his place in the last eight with a convincing 6-2, 6-2 victory over Japan's Ryo Tabata in the third round.
Paparkar, who hails from Pune, started playing tennis at the age of six and has enjoyed a breakthrough junior season in 2026. Before Wimbledon, he won ITF junior titles at J60 Manama in Bahrain and J200 Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, while also reaching the third round of the French Open juniors.
A right-handed player who prefers hard courts, Paparkar achieved a career-high ITF junior ranking of No. 14 in June 2026. His run at Wimbledon is expected to further boost his reputation as one of India's emerging tennis talents.
