WTT Feeder Caracas: Harmeet Desai wins singles and mixed doubles titles

Indian table tennis ace Harmeet Desai displayed an impressive performance at the WTT Feeder Caracas in Venezuela, clinching both the Men’s Singles and Mixed Doubles titles, on Monday.
Teaming up with Krittwika Roy, Desai took on the Cuban duo of Jorge Campos and Daniela Fonseca Carrazana in a thrilling Mixed Doubles final.
The Indian pair triumphed in a closely contested match, winning 3-2 with scores of 11-8, 9-11, 8-11, 11-9, and 5-11.
Earlier in the tournament, they showcased excellent synergy by defeating China’s Wang Kaibo and Liu Xinran in straight sets (4-11, 9-11, 7-11) to advance to the finals.
In the Men’s Singles, Desai continued his winning streak by overpowering France’s Joe Seyfried with a decisive 3-0 victory (7-11, 8-11, 6-11) in the final.
His journey to the top included a hard-fought semifinal clash against Joao Monteiro of Portugal, where he narrowly edged out his opponent 3-2 (11-4, 15-13, 7-11, 10-12, 5-11) after an intense match.
Desai had also battled through a challenging quarterfinal match against China’s Xiankun Ning, winning 3-2.
Indian contender Snehit Suravajjula also made a commendable run, reaching the semifinals before falling to Joe Seyfried in a tough 3-0 match (11-8, 11-8, 11-8).
Suravajjula’s journey included a strong quarterfinal performance against Cuba’s Jorge Campos, which he won 3-0.
This dual title win at Caracas marks a significant achievement for Harmeet Desai, highlighting India’s growing presence in international table tennis.
