The Indian women's team scripted history by defeating second-seeded Korea 3-2 in the quarterfinals at the Asian Table Tennis Championships in Astana, Kazakhstan on Tuesday.
Unbeaten Ayhika Mukherjee's heroics in the first and final match proved to be crucial for the Indian team. Manika Batra won the second match to give India a 2-0 lead, but she went down in the fourth match of the tie.
This was India's first medal at the Asian Championships.

Ayhika stars, India confirm a historic medal
Ayhika Mukherjee is the star of the evening. She wins both of her matches today against Korea. First, she beats Yubin Shin in the first match of the tie, and then in the deciding fifth match of the clash, India holds up her nerves and prevails against Jhiee Jeon to take India to the semifinals of the Asian Table Tennis Championships.
India have confirmed a historic medal, country's first-ever in the continental championship.
