India's Anahat Singh, on Monday, clinched the U-17 women's singles title at the British Junior Open, beating Egypt's Malika Elkaraksy in Birmingham.

Singh, 16, came from behind twice to beat Elkaraksy 4-11, 11-9, 6-11, 11-5, 11-3 at the Glass Court of the University of Birmingham.

The top seeded player in the tournament, Singh had earlier beaten Ruqayya Salem of Egypt 9-11, 11-6, 11-8, 11-6 in the semi-finals following a 3-0 win over Nadia Tamer in the quarter-finals on Sunday.

The win over Elkaraksy adds to Singh's remarkable resume, which also includes British Junior Open title wins at the U-11 and U-15 age group as well.

Singh had also finished runner-up at the U17 British Junior Open last year, losing out to Egypt's Nadien Elhammamy in the final.

"I am really happy," Singh said after the win in a video posted by British Junior Open.

"This is my third time winning this. I lost last year in a really close game and I wasn't able to win last time but I am really happy I was able to win this time before I go into the higher categories," she added.

Singh had bagged nine PSA Challenger level titles last year – a record for women.

Moreover, she had also won the Indian junior and senior women's singles national title in 2024 besides breaking into the top 100 world rankings. She is currently ranked 82 in the world.
