The Indian team, led by Shrutika Sarode, electrified the crowd with a commanding performance against China during a jaw-dropping women’s division bronze medal match.
Both teams, making their second attendance to the World Skate Games in roller derby, showed great improvements throughout their preliminary games, to be evenly matched at the start of their final. The game concluded with a score of 127 to 39 in favour of India, marking a historic triumph for the Indian team.
India’s jammers were unstoppable, exploiting every defensive lapse by China and racking up points with lightning-fast passes. China’s defence was overwhelmed by India’s blistering speed and agility, while their jammers struggled to penetrate India’s rock-solid formations.
Riding high on their emphatic victory, the Indian team proudly secured the bronze medal, ready to celebrate their remarkable achievement.
Indian men miss on a podium finish
Contrary to the women's team's performance, India's men's team missed out on a medal as they went down to China 75-119.
China emerged victorious in a fiercely contested battle against India in their first time attending the World Skate Games in roller derby.
Both teams had lightning-fast jammers, and India fought valiantly, with their jammers executing several successful scoring runs, but China’s extra experience gave them the advantage, their formidable blockers stifling India’s momentum at every turn.
This hard-fought victory showcased China’s tactical discipline and physical endurance, earning them a well-deserved bronze medal.
Team USA won the gold medal in both the men's and women's categories.
The World Skate Games are an international biennial multi-sport event, comprising all the world roller sport disciplines as regulated by the World Skate International Federation. The games involve 11 World Championships in one multi-sport event.
