50m Rifle 3 Positions Qualification Rules - Explained

The rules for 50m Rifle 3 Positions are simple. You shoot in 3 different positions - Kneeling, Prone and Standing, from a 50m distance using a rifle. The shooters are asked to shoot 40 shots in each position.

The top eight shooters who have the highest qualification score after these 120 shots qualify for the final medal match, while the rest bid goodbye to their Olympic dream.

    Welcome Welcome!

I would have usually started the blog by greeting you all Good Morning, but there is nothing really good about today's morning. First, Atanu Das exited men's individual event in the pre-quarters, and minutes later he was followed by the World Number 1 boxer and India's biggest medal hope in Tokyo, Amit Panghal.

The only saving grace, so far, for India today has been the discus thrower Kamalpreet Kaur, who looks in prime position to qualify for the final of Women's Discus Throw.

Here's hoping that Anjum Moudgil and Tejaswini Sawant have something better to offer at the Asaka Shooting Range in about 20 minutes from now!
