The Indian capital is all set to host the ISSF Shooting World Cup in February, the first of four World Cups to be held throughout the year and also the first to offer quota places for qualification to the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. The National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) announced the Indian team for the upcoming tournament.
Heena Sidhu and Manu Bhaker feature prominently in the list. Heena Sidhu took the decision to drop out of competing in the 25m Air Pistol event and choosing instead only to focus on 10m has been selected for the latter. Additionally, the list features names like Navy shooter Anuradha who will be making her World Cup debut in Heena’s stead competing in the 10m Air Pistol event.
The Men’s pistol events will see Asian Games medalists Saurah Chaudhary and Abhishek Verma alongside Ravinder Singh in the fray. Meanwhile, the 10m Air Rifle event where India has already gained two quota spots thanks to Anjum Moudgil and Apurvi Chandela will see both these shooters along with youngster Elavenil Valaravian for whom this will be a World Cup debut.
